  For the last 17 months school had been closed and there is uncertainty in its reopening .  " Research on violations against children during the pandemic "-a total guidance of UNICEF for fact-finding had no doubt reflect the very fact of abuse, violence & harmful practice of children. Child labour had increased in insignificant proportion due to the closure of schools.        Here our concern obviously is much more for the children who belong to the underprivileged category. Closure of school had an impact on their nutrition, physical & mental health, child safety as well. This no doubt will indicate the requirement of school reopening. But some interlinked factors should also be emphasized with school reopening consideration.         Recently,  I have attended a webinar with Ngo representatives, eminent parliamentarians, Educators etc on the school reopening issue.   Teaching is considered as one of the noble profession where a person should be ready to render his service beyond professionalism. They are being trusted like our parents & we consider them sometimes as our role model in our life. But I was just shocked in teacher’s involvement in child trafficking. Recently rescue of three girls children & two boys children aged between 9 months to 6 years reflect the need of one aspect –child safety net. Arrest of school principal, a school teacher along with other seven(total nine) highlighted the requirement of strengthening our state machinery related to child protection. All it happened in a central school at Bankura district in west Bengal. I am happy that those predators were arrested but their act had shown the least form of our materialistic life where people go ahead to achieve their meta needs(above their basic needs) in any way.
