Neglecting NCD Factors---------------
While working in the ICMR project INDIA B phase-ii, I came to know that majority of people especially in the rural sectors and slums are unconscious about their sugar level. In some of remote villages, people even rejected to go through FBS, PGBS test(test for ensuring sugar level in our body).
There was one case, where somehow I could made that lady convince to go for FBS test and sugar level was found far away of normal point, even it was beyond the range of IFG(impaired fasting glucose). She had been advised to contact with local health system immediately and also a referral was made to the local health authority with the inclusion of the name of that lady among with others.
We ca’t ignore knowing status of our sugar level as it increases the risk of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, liver disease or even disease like” cancer“.
A study published in the “ journal of clinical investigation’ points to sugar——
— a source to the existing cancer. It’s the activation of sugar based metabolism in a cell driven by sugar level in the cell that actually causes cancer to form in the first place.
In this pandemic situation we all came to know that people having high sugar level/diabetes are more prone to be at risk of COVID 19……..
Tobacco, alcohol consumption, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, improper body weight, raised blood pressure & sugar –all come under NCD risk factors which can be overcome through updating of our existing knowledge base & following a +ve lifestyle approach. We have to go far away for mass awareness if we wish to form a healthy society.
During COVID 19- a positive trend (to some extent it might be) had already been started to follow healthy lifestyle & to follow a disciplinary life.
One fine day, COVID will n’t be there but hope by that time people will be accustomed in following a healthy/positive and disciplinary life style .
Our steps towards positive thinking with strong affirmation only would let us survive irrespective of persistence of diseases NCD/CD in our societal frame..
Can’t we hope that???????
